Studies in Photography
We are delighted to be working in close association with Alexander Hamilton of Studies in Photography, a small gallery promoting photography in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Studies in Photography have also gained an international reputation with the publication of a bi-annual Journal which is distributed worldwide. The Winter edition, launched last week, features the work of Joseph McKenzie together with an interview with his eldest son Frank who is the caretaker of his fathers work. The cover, as shown, features model June Davis in situ at St Martin's School of Art in 1956. Joseph McKenzie took up the role of establishing and teaching photography at St Martin's in 1954 after graduating from London School of Printing. The fashion work, which has not received any exposure until now, was work which Joseph McKenzie undertook for the benefit of the fashion students. It was used by them in the promotion of their designs through their personal portfolios.
A collection of original Joseph McKenzie work will be exhibited at the Studies in Photography Gallery, William Street, Edinburgh throughout March, 2025.
